Great / Awesome unit
Installed into a 23Ft Jayco Silverline, to replace a 11yo Ibis unit, used the 360 hole size frame provided and it dropped straight in. Very light and easy to install by following the instructions provided. I read previous reviews about the quiet operation and did not believe it, but Its quiet, really quiet, and blows good cold air and / or hot air in the various modes.
I am 110% happy with this unit, no more sleep deprived nights trying to stay cool or warm when camping/ caravanning!!!
Overall, I like this fridge. 69l capacity suits my needs for a week or two of camping, tall dimensions are good for taller bottles and uses space in my vehicle efficiently (vertical, not horizontal. I love the way the top can open in or out, this is very handy, and with the cover on, the fridge is quite well insulated & protected. Two zones are great for when I want to freeze, and when I'm happy with just a single fridge space, taking out the divider and baskets frees up a LOT of internal space. Weight is just ok, I can lift it on and off the slide by myself, which is handy as I remove it from the car when not camping, any larger and I'd struggle. Consumption is decent once I've got it cold - I can get 2 - 2.5 days running on 100a/h deep cycle battery alone, and if there is any sunlight, a 200W solar array extends that indefinitely.
So much for the positives. The unit stopped working properly after 2 years, one thermostat stuck at 39 degrees, so the fridge keeps trying to get to the target temperature, and ends up running at full speed permanently, causing very heavy load, icing and freezing of contents, and drawing down the battery in less than a day. This seems to be a common issue across the range - a faulty batch of thermistors - and quite easily fixed, but caused a fair amount of angst until I worked that out. Also often get voltage errors - I'd thought this was due to insecure 12v connection to the car outlet, but its happening so often that I think the cable itself (flimsy, approx 1.5m long) may be undersized, and I'm going to order a new one in heavier gauge and with Anderson connectors. At $1520 list price, I'd look elsewhere - I bought mine on sale at Anaconda for <$1000, and that is more reasonable - but honestly, for such a critical piece of camping equipment, it HAS to be 100% reliable, and this fridge just isn't.
Fantastic for using to keep fridge running (beer and wine cold!) when off grid giving the solar panels time to boost the camper battery!
I bought these to fix a temperature under reading in my dual zone 85 litre, not quite 5 yrs old. Easy enough DIY job, same part number for both compartments so buy 2 for a dual zone and replace both while you're there. After calibration, it now works fine. MyCOOLMAN should supply thermal paste too for this price, as alternative lower cost suppliers do.
